Necklace Length Charts
	Here are two very well done reference charts to help one determine where a necklace is likely to fall on the front of a person's chest. Please keep in mind that these are based on very general measurements and body sizes. The best way to determine your own neck measurement is to measure around your neck as if wearing a choker; this is generally 12-14". Using the first chart below you can see where a necklace might lie, beginning with the 12-14" base measurement. You may approximate from there. Please remember that we do our best here at Shimmerlings to create beautiful necklaces with most often a 1-3" extension on it, to accommodate a wide range of preferences. As well we also offer for purchase an extension that can simply be added to any necklace you currently own or may purchase. Jewelry, like people come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, we measure our necklaces from one end to the other; please keep in mind that the size of the beads also factors into how the necklace will fall on the chest. Collar 12-13" One or more strands that fit snugly on the middle of the neck. Accessorize with boat neck, V-neck, or off-the-shoulder fashions. Choker 14-16' Appropriate for accessorizing anything from casual to formal evening wear, as well this style compliments almost any neckline. Princess 17-19" Most common length for pearls, this size necklace is well suited for higher necklines as well as crew necks, but is equally complimentary with low and plunging necklines. Matinee Length 20-25" This length is ideal for casual or business attire, it looks best with higher necklines as well it adds sophistication to a professional look. Opera Length 26-36" A necklace of this length worn as a single strand with high necklines or doubled to create a fashionable double strand with any neckline is very popular. This length, especially in pearls when knotted above the bust will create a stylish vintage look. Accessorize with casual attire or business attire depending on the materials used in the necklace. The "Rope" 37" or longer In pearls this style is a favorite of Coco Chanel, this luxurious length can be created with several clasps, enabling the piece to be broken down into differing necklace and bracelet combinations, or doubled and tripled for a stunning choker look. A necklace of this length, particularly pearls is often knotted and slung over the shoulder onto the back to accentuate the beauty of a fabulous backless dress.
