Swarovski Crystal

Properties, Meanings, Powers & Uses

"Stone of Positive Energy"

~ S ~

swar-ˈov -ski /ˈkristl/

Swarovski Crystals are the most sought after crystals in the world today. These crystals, unlike other man-made crystals, maintain their sparkling brilliance and shine for the life of the crystal. Daniel Swarovski founded the Swarovski Company; born in Bohemia in 1862, and was fascinated by the industrial era to which he was born. After experimenting with electricity and glass blowing, Swarovski then built a machine that was able to cut and polish glass mechanically. Mr. Swarovski patented this machine and went into mass production. This machine gave the Swarovski Company a great advantage over their competitors and this was the beginning of what was to become the most famous crystal company in the world. Swarovski are the most sought after crystals in the world today due to their incomparable beauty and versatility. No matter what the reason for purchase, these leaded glass crystals accent everything that they are associated with.

Scientific Properties

Mohs Hardness of 6-7 with a crystalline non-amorphous morphology structure

Glass is an ancient material, one of the most ancient known and used by man. The first glass used was natural obsidian, volcanic glass, used to make arrowheads, knives, jewelry, etc. Glass objects created of manmade glass are reported to have been found as early from as 4,500 BC in Mesopotamia and 3,000 BC in ancient Egypt.

What makes these crystals unique from all others is that the lead oxide level is a minimum of thirty two percent. When this level of lead oxide is used, it makes the crystals transparency very clear. Highly skilled craftsmen then create prisms and add radiant colors in layers; as such, spectacular product is thus created. There is no other crystal that can compare to a Swarovski Crystal.

While natural quartz crystals are 99% Silicon Dioxide, lead glass or lead crystals are approximately 88% or often less. Although they may not have the same crystalline structure of natural crystal but they do not have their own vibration. The molecular arrangement of natural crystals allows it to vibrate without losing cohesiveness.

Metaphysical Properties

~ S ~

Many consider glass to have no metaphysical properties, but others who are aware, realize that glass has energy like all else in the Universe, and thus has its own set of properties.  Glass is a melding of the traditional four elements, because through fire and air the silica earth element is made molten and transmuted into a liquid only to return to its earthly state as an apparent solid. It can be made to focus light or allow light to pass through invisibly or carry lightwaves great distances through tiny strands.

Metaphysically, glass represents and carries the energies of transformation, merging of elements, rebirth, focus and communication. The colors of the glass bring the vibrations of those specific color energies. All Feng Shui Bagua Light Catchers have a Swarovski faceted prism to disperse and deflect one’s negative chi. The main purpose of faceted crystal balls in Feng Shui is to transmute energy. When hard, or negative energy enters the ball, the facets deflect the energy, breaking it up and turning it into gentle, or positive energy.

Faceted crystals may be hung in windows to shift any hard chi entering one’s home into positive energy. They can also be used in hallways or corridors to slow down fast-moving chi, or to reduce the bad energy transmitted by “poison arrows” such as those from sharp corners.

Healing Properties

~ S ~

For people who suffer from stress arthritis or joint disease, wearing Swarovski crystals often brings a level of relief that cannot be explained. They are also believed to relieve the symptoms of poison oak, ivy, and sumac. It is also believed that crystals can ease the symptoms of emotional illness such as depression.
