Apatite General Gemstone Details

ˈa-pə-ˌtīt

Humanitarian Stone

Named for the Greek word meaning ‘deception’, Apatite’s chemical composition almost imitates many other stones. Apatite comes in many forms and colors, and is easily confused with half a dozen other minerals, most commonly confused with Fluorite and Aquamarine.

Found in transparent, translucent, and opaque forms. Varies in color from white to brown to green to yellow and even violet; although it’s most common color is a lovely yellow/green/teal. Its crystal form is hexagonal and glassy in appearance. It has also been found in chatoyant form called “Asparagus Stone” in a yellow/green color.

Apatite Scientific Properties

Mohs Hardness of 5 with a hexagonal crystal structure.

When cut correctly, Apatite stones are bright with strong colors, transparent to opaque. It is rarely faceted though, due to its low rate on the Mohs scale. Apatite has been found as colorless, yellow, teal, blue, violet, and green hexagonal prisms and tabular crystals. Most often beads that are crafted from Apatite are the most brilliant teal coloring which resembles the sea, and is generally the most popular on the market.

Apatite is an abundant mineral found in many types of rock, but most gem quality material is associated in Pegmatites.

Apatite Mystical Properties

Said to enhance one’s insight, imagination, creativity, and learning abilities, which will in turn bestow increased self-confidence. Stimulating the intellect and promoting the realization that one’s strength of will comes not only from spiritual avenues, but must also be derived of love as well. When this realization comes about, one begins to feel negativity and aloofness dissolving away.

When applied with a spiritual discipline and meditation, Apatite creates a willingness to let go of people, objects, and situations that have become useless in one’s life. Apatite is said to assist in restoring a clearer thought process, which in turn increases a deeper state of meditation and reflection.

Continued use of Apatite enhances psychic abilities, balances the yin-yang energies, assists in the rising of Kundalini energy, openness to the higher self, and producing a spiritual state of unconditional love. When these attributes are developed, that is when Apatite becomes a “humanitarian” stone.

Healing Properties of Apatite

Physically, in general terms, Apatite is said to assist with bones, nail problems, arthritis, glands/organs, and balancing the nervous system.

Told to improve the body’s coordination by strengthening muscles and easing hypertension.

The dark blue and teal colors are helpful with weight loss by assisting in suppressing hunger, raising the metabolic rate, and improving a healthier lifestyle by encouraging better eating habits. The same results have been discovered whether worn, carried, or used as an elixir.

Using Apatite with other crystals will facilitate quicker results with greater ease due to the fact that Apatite will enhance the other stones and builds an additional “coming to results” energy for the requested result.

Once the correct state is attained, visualize the person, problem or particular item, and begin to envision it being pushed or moved further and further away in whatever manner works best.
