The same could be told of the mysterious green gemstone Moldavite.

Moldavite harmonizes well with many gemstones, but is particularly strong with amethyst, citrine, tanzanite, charoite and larimar...it is told that moldavite will supercharge and spiritualize the energies of whatever stones one uses with it.

Faceted Moldavites are intensified by the cutting process, and are commonly mistaken for diopside due to their intense green color.

Moldavite is a tektite. It is the only some say 'extraterrestrial' gemstone. The first tektites were found in 1787 in the Moldau River in Czechoslovakia, hence the name Moldavite.

Moldavite is a translucent green meteoric gem, that is classed with the mysterious group of glassy objects called tektites, and it is believed to have fallen from the sky only once, about 14.8 million years ago.

Tektites are usually translucent and occur in a range of colors from green to brown. There surfaces are generally uneven or rough, with a distinctive lumpy, scarred or jagged textures. Tektites do not contain the crystallite found in other stone, they may however, have characteristic inclusions of round or torpedo shaped bubbles or honely-ike swirls.

Many ideas have been put forth to explain the mysterious origin of tektites, one being that they came to Earth from outer space, melting as they passed through the atmosphere, and thus forming their characteristically odd shape and surface texture. Another theory is that the impact of a large meteorite caused the surrounding rocks to melt and scatter with the scars and cracks appearing as they cooled down again.
