Selenite, also known as Satin Spar and Desert Rose is a clear variety of gypsum, selenite crystals often form as seawater evaporates. As they become heavier, these crystals sink to the bottom of the sea bed. Strangely enough Selenite can be permanently damage if exposed to water, so do not cleanse or immerse it in water for any reason.

Although the name Selenite means ‘moonstone’ it has no connection with the other more beautiful and durable Moonstone gemstones. The silvery quality of the stone may have reminded those who name it of the moon, and in turn the Greek moon goddess Selene.

Selenite is said to be a powerful crystal of psychic communication. It will aid in interaction with one’s wise ancestors, angels and spirit guides as well as loved ones that have gone beyond.

Translucent Selenite has a very fine vibration and shall bring clarity of mind, opening the crown and higher chakras while accessing angelic consciousness and higher guidance. Pure Selenite is a link to the light body, helping to anchor it in the earth vibration.

It may heal the cells of the body and ensure that the fluid system flows harmoniously, including spinal fluid. Told to align the spinal column and promote flexibility, it may guard against epileptic . It is also said to improve the skin tone and increase the body’s capacity to absorb calcium. It helps the body to assimilate needed vitamins and minerals, but do not ingest it.
